Location Choices
For our location we chose an old victorian looking house, we made sure the inside and the outside of the house was not too modern looking and made it look dark inside. The location had to match the horror criteria. The house was large and had many different suitable rooms for our OTS. It also had some creepy objects in which we used as props this was lots of help to our group; at the same time we wanted the house to have a slightly modern touch to show that it could happen to anyone. The audience will see the location as a common house that anyone could live in.
We used this image of the outside of the house in dark to start off our OTS, this gives the audience a feel of the environment and sets the scene. We used a ran that moved to the right this helps move to the next image in an easy flow but it also makes the audience look out for anything paranormal.
The house we used had some old furniture including chandeliers, this was a lot of help as most horror films include them and in most horror films you see a lot of old furniture most than modern looking.
The house where we filmed was also three story so there was a large stair case and in the dark you couldn't see to the bottom it was dark. this adds to the mystery and gets you looking and interested.
The film location has to be consistent through out, is the location isn't modern it was to be like this through the whole OTS , everything from the outside of the house we used to some of the furniture inside was old looking and not a lot of modern this gives a different feel to the film as most old houses are considered creepy and most haunted. This also makes our opening title sequence look more realistic.
As a group we thought this location matched what we wanted for our OTS, old looking inside and out; because the house was creepy looking anyway it made it easier for our group, it was also similar to Insidious which is the film we used to help us with our OTS. We was able to create similar looking videos with our own twist but still using the inspiration.
