What is a Metacritic rating?
The Metacritic website combines reviews on music albums, games, movies, TV and DVD's. For each review it has a 'Metacritic Rating' out of 100, each review that is obtained is mingled into an average. There are three colour codes for the reviews,
- Green - For the more favorable reviews
- Yellow - Mixed reviews
- Red - Consists of unfavorable reviews
The highest scoring horror films on the list are 'The Witch', 'Son Of Soul' and 'Green Room'. The story line for the former is based in the 17th century, the family live in the area of New England. Alone. As the film progresses the their infant son disappears and their young daughter is a suspect of witchcraft, near the end they start to head all their separate ways as the family starts to fall apart. The reviews about the film are all clearly positive, they consist of "A deeply impressive first film", "Unnerving" and others have written "It may be slow, but the something near greatness" On the lowest scoring films, the list starts with 'Pay The Ghost' and 'The Green Inferno'. The plot of 'Pay The Ghost' is about a professor searching for this young son who was abducted during Halloween. As the films gets to the middle they start hearing and se their son trying to reach out to them. These reviews of the films on the Metacritic website are all negative, the critic's say "Low energy wash from start to finish" and "What ever you have to pay, it's too much" implying the film is not worth your money to watch. |
